Toolbar Management

Thunkable AI provides several different tooltips for viewing, editing, publishing, and more. Each tool tip is designed to help guide you along the way from app idea to publication and is available at on your screen's top bar.

App Icon

The image that represents your app on your users' mobile devices.

To customize your app’s icon:

1. Click the plus icon (+) at the left of your project name.

1. Click Click or drag an icon to upload to select an image from your device, or drag the files into the provided drop window.

This feature may only be available for Creators on certain Thunkable plans. Please refer to our pricing page for more information.

Public/Private

By default each project you work on in Thunkable will be public and available to share and review with friends. However by toggling the Public/Private button you can make your app private and only visible to your eyes. While sharing a link to your project will not allow others to make changes to it, they will be able to see it for themselves.

Collapse

The Collapse icon expands your view of the project by minimizing the prompt box. By clicking the button again, you can bring back the prompt box.

Edit

The Edit icon allows you to enter edit mode where most of your work is completed. You'll be able to make changes and expand on ideas for your app. Through the use of Discuss mode, your ability to fine tune your app is even greater.

Preview

The Preview icon enters preview mode, allowing for quick tests of your app from within ai.thunkable.com. From your first draft until completion, this feature gives you insight into the state of the app.

Preview mode also allows you to switch between different device types, making it easy to see how your app will appear on various screen sizes:

• Mobile – Preview the app as it would appear on a smartphone.

• Tablet – Test the layout and responsiveness on a tablet-sized display.

• Desktop – View how your app adapts to a desktop browser.

Switching between device previews helps ensure your app provides a consistent and responsive experience across all supported devices before publishing.

Console Output

While you preview your app, the Console output panel collects errors and failed network requests from the running app. Click the panel to expand it.

• Red entries are errors, such as a server failure, a network failure, or an error in your app's code.

• Orange entries are warnings, such as a request the server rejected because something was invalid or not found. These are often expected, and your app may be working as intended.

Click details on an entry to see more information about it.

To get help with an issue:

1. Optionally, describe what wasn't working as expected.

2. Click Investigate with AI. The AI reviews the recent errors and only changes your app's code if it finds a real problem. This uses AI tokens.

You can also click Copy logs to copy the entries, or Clear to empty the list.

To hide the panel, turn off Preview console in Account Settings → Preferences.

Code

The Code icon opens up our code interface for a look behind the curtains at how your app is built. Minor edits within the code are also permitted.

Live Test

Live Test is one of the most important features in Thunkable AI. The difference between the testing capability in the Preview screen is that Live Test is completed on your mobile device itself, allowing a more authentic test environment.

Share

When you generate a share link, it creates a copy of your app project at the point in time you generate the link. If you update your app and want your collaborators/remixers to have the latest copy, you'll have to generate a new link.

1. Click the Share icon in the top right corner of your project.

2. Click Share App.

3. Click to place a checkmark in the associated box if you want to share your project with API keys and passwords included.

4. Click Generate Link.

   
5. You will be given a share link and an expiry date. The share link will no longer work after this date.

These links expire after 60 days. If you want Creators to have access to your public project for a longer period, share the Project URL by copying it from the top of your browser.

Download

The Download icon will allow you to download the app to your device only. Either for personal use, or additional testing. There are different steps involved in downloading to an iOS device vs. an Android device.

Downloading your app to an iOS device requires an Apple Developer account. The process requires Apple Developer account. We recommend having each open in a separate browser tab so you can easily navigate between them.

All Android apps built with Thunkable are built with Android API 35 and target Android 15.

To download your app to an Android device:

1. Click the Download icon.

2. Select Download Android.

   

   The number of monthly downloads you are allowed varies per Thunkable plan. This number resets when your next billing cycle begins

3. Enter your email address in the provided field

4. Click Send.

You will be sent an email with a link to download your app.

Publish

The Publish icon allows you to push your app out into the world. Now that you've successfully built your app from scratch, follow along the Publishing path to officially launch.
